The STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Database (ACSD) is the world's premier clinical outcomes registry for adult cardiac surgery. Launched in 1989, the Database contains more than 6.5 million cardiac surgery procedure records and currently has nearly 3,800 participating physicians, including surgeons and anesthesiologists. from the NYS Cardiac Advisory Committee, an advisory body to the Commissioner of Health consisting of nationally recognized cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and others from related disciplines working both in New York State and elsewhere. The Cardiac Advisory Committee is to be commended for sustained leadership in these efforts.

The common sites of cardiac pain are the inner aspect of the left arm, neck, jaw(s), upper abdomen, and back, but the discomfort or pain can be elsewhere. When pain of cardiac ischemic origin presents in an atypical site in the absence of chest discomfort, the source of the pain may be difficult to diagnose. CMC® is a subspecialty certification for certified nurses who provide direct care to acutely/critically ill adult cardiac patients. Nurses interested in this certification may work in areas such as cardiac care units, medical ICUs, telemetry, progressive care, heart failure clinics, home care, interventional cardiology, cardiac cath labs and/or electrophysiology units.
